About Dallas-Fort Worth

A community-wide effort is building to improve the present reality for students attending public schools in DFW. Teach For America partners with local school districts, universities, and other nonprofits to raise the bar for teacher training and student learning. By pursuing what is best for kids, our corps members and alumni are working with the local community to create lasting change for all students in the Metroplex.  A growing number of our corps members hail from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with 34 percent returning home to contribute to their communities.   Still others are new to the region but are attracted to DFW for its diversity, dynamism, and a well-earned reputation for determination.

Through partnerships with Dallas ISD, Momentous Institute, Border Crossers, Big Thought, and Southern Methodist University, our region has developed a local teacher training program to supercharge the development of our corps members.  After completing training and certification, our corps members roll up their sleeves as part of the education force that is transforming outcomes for kids. With Dallas ISD as Teach For America’s largest district partner in 2016, this district accounts for 60 percent of where our corps members work.  Other district partners in the region include Uplift Education, Fort Worth ISD, and KIPP DFW. Regardless of where you work, you will find that the Texas cliché of southern hospitality rings true. DFW warmly welcomes anyone who is willing to put in the effort to improve the lives of the next generation. We are proud and fortunate to receive support from our community’s leadership—from mayors and superintendents to principals and parents. Together, we are working together to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
